She was scared when she found out about the match. It was going to be terrifying. How could he take on a match like this? It had destroyed one man’s career and now she was afraid it was going to destroy her fiancé’s career.

She wanted to tell him not to do it. She wanted to tell him to quit before he killed himself. He had already had so many injuries including a dislocated kneecap and a torn quadriceps muscle. What more could happen?

Paige stared out the window of her and Hunter’s apartment. All of these thoughts running through her head were driving her crazy. She knew Hunter loved his job as a wrestler. He was so dedicated and did everything that was asked of him. But, a Hell in the Cell match…again? It was just a bit too much as far as she was concerned.

“Hey, baby, what’s taking you so long out here?” Said a warm, deep voice as a pair of strong, loving arms encircled her waist and pulled her close.

“Oh, Hunter!” Paige turned with a sob and threw her arms around Hunter’s neck

“Ah, baby! I know this match scares you, but it will be okay. I promise.” Hunter said kissing her softly. “Kev and I have talked through most of the match. We want it spontaneous and exciting for the fans. You don’t have to go if you don’t want to.” he said brushing a strand of red hair back from Paige’s face.

“No, I want to be there for you, Hunter. You are my whole life! I just remember the last two times you came home with cuts and bruises, sprained fingers and an ankle. What about poor Mick? His career is gone because of ‘Hell in the Cell‘.”

“Paige, please don’t worry. This is my job. I will be as careful as I can. Now, are you ready to leave? We need to get to the airport within the hour.”

“Yes, everything’s packed and ready. I just need my purse and jacket.” She answered wiping the tears away.

Hunter paused and realized that this match was really scaring his fiancé. He turned to her and pulled her into his arms. He pressed his lips to hers in a warm, passionate kiss.

“I love you, Paige. It’s going to be okay.” Hunter said reassuringly.

Paige smiled. Enough was enough. He knew how she felt and she was not going to say anymore about it. It was time to enjoy her fiancé.

“All right, Hunter. If you say so.” She answered hugging him tight.

On the plane, Paige sat with her head on Hunter’s shoulder. She was tired and wanted to take a nap while they flew. Besides, she wasn’t the best flier.

As she dozed off, she started dreaming…

“…Well, here we are, King. Bad Blood. This is going to be a real slobber knocker today. With the Hell in the Cell between Kevin Nash and Triple H…”

“…and he’s out! Triple H is down and bloody. He isn’t moving! Get the medics! He’s hurt!…”

Paige jerked awake.

“Sweetheart? What is it?” Hunter asked putting his arm around her shoulders.

“Just a dream.” Paige said. Hunter saw that she was visibly shaken, but he didn’t press her. It bothered him though because he had never seen her this shook up about a match. Not even the Hell in the Cell with Mick Foley.

They finally reached Houston and their hotel. Hunter sat on the bed and watched as Paige unpacked their suitcases. They were going to be in Houston for several days and it was nice when they could actually unpack their clothes for a few days.

Hunter finally spoke up. “Paige, I know this match is bugging you. Talk to me. Maybe It will help.” Paige turned to her man. She gazed into his face and wondered how lucky she could be to find her soul mate. She went and sat down next to him on the bed.

“I am so afraid that something is going to go wrong. I feel something is going to go wrong. There is just not something right about this whole show, Hunter. I can’t explain it.” Paige said a sob catching in her throat. “I’m so scared something is going to happen to you, Hunter. That dream on the plane was about you at this match. You had been knocked out and bloodied and JR kept yelling that you were down and weren’t moving.”

Hunter pulled her into his arms. He didn’t know what to say. All he could do was hold her and let her know that he was very alive.

Sunday morning, Hunter and Paige arrived at the arena. When they walked in it was very quiet. Too quiet was Paige’s first thought. She clung to Hunter’s hand as they walked into the arena itself. They walked silently down the ramp to the ring where it had already been set up.

Together, they looked up and saw the cell hanging above the ring. Paige gasped in horror as she realized for the first time the size of it.

“It’s so big, Hunter.” Paige whispered burying her face in his shoulder.

“I know, honey. I know.” Hunter murmured almost mesmerized by the huge apparatus. He walked to the ring and rolled inside standing up to look around the arena and then to continue staring at the cell.

“Isn’t it something, Paige?” Hunter said with a grin on his face.

Suddenly, Paige exploded. “I can’t believe you, Hunter! That cage is an instrument of destruction!’ She yelled at him. “Don’t you realize that you and my brother are going to be wrestling in that cage tonight? I swear! The more blood you wrestlers draw, the better! How can you be so calm about this? I don’t understand you at all!” Paige exclaimed. She turned on her heel and stormed out of the arena sobbing in earnest.

“Paige! PAIGE!” Hunter roared more in confusion, then anger. He started after her and was stopped by a calm, deep voice behind him.

“Let her go, man. She’ll be all right.”

“Hi, Kev.” Hunter said turning to see his best friend and soon to be brother-in-law.

“Are you ready for this, man?” Kevin Nash asked stepping over the ropes into the ring.

“As ready as I’ll ever be.” Hunter said slapping Kevin on the shoulder.

In the meantime…

Paige ran out of the arena and down the halls turning whenever. Finally, when she had cried herself out, she stopped. She leaned against a wall next to a door that was ajar. She heard voices inside. She started to listen, then realized what she was doing. As she turned to walk away, she ran into a small metal cart sitting in the hall.

The door was flung wide and several large men came striding out. One of them grabbed her arm and pulled her into the room. He shoved her down into a chair roughly.

“What’s your name?” Another of the men asked. Paige was so frightened she couldn’t have answered if she wanted to.

“I know who she is.” Said a familiar voice from beside her. She looked over and saw Randy Orton. “This is Helmsley’s fiancé, Paige.”

“Oh, really? Well, I think I am going to keep you here just a bit longer in case you heard anything.” Said the man who seemed to be the boss. “George, can you watch her?”

“Yeah, boss!” said a short, stocky man.

Paige wanted to get away. She needed to get away. Hunter didn’t know where she was. It seemed like hours but it was probably only a few minutes when suddenly everything was extremely quiet.

“George?? She called softly, then a bit louder. “George?!” There was no answer.

Slowly, she got up and went to the door. She quietly opened it just a bit. She looked through the crack and saw an empty hall. Carefully, she slipped through the door and turned the way she had come. She hurried down the hall and soon found her way out of the labyrinth of hallways.

Just as she was about to turn one corner, she heard voices. She turned to head back down another when she recognized the voices. Hunter and Kevin! She let out a cry of relief.

She turned and ran towards her fiancé’s voice. When she saw him, she yelled out his name. Hunter turned. A smile crossed his face and he headed towards her.

Paige flew to him and threw herself into his arms. He swung her up and pulled her close hugging her tight.

“I was worried about you, sweetheart.” Hunter murmured kissing her softly. “We just heard that a gang of con artists had just been caught right here in this building. I didn’t know what had happened to you.” he said keeping a tight hold of her.

“Oh, Hunter! I’m so sorry I ran away. I just am so worried about you and Kevin. You are the two most important men in my life and I don’t want anything to happen to you.” Paige said covering his face with kisses.

“I know, sweetheart. I know. Just trust me, ok?”

“Oh, I do trust you!” She answered as Hunter proceeded to kiss her passionately leaving her breathless and unable to speak.

Paige watched as Hunter walked out into the arena. She turned to the monitor when he disappeared from her sight. She was thrilled that so many of the wrestlers were there to watch with her.

She stood next to Shawn Michaels and grabbed his hand for comfort. He smiled down at her warmly, then they continued to watch the entrances of the two men and the referee involved in the Hell in the Cell match.

Paige was silent as the match started. When Hunter hit Kevin in the knee with the hammer, she bit her lip and tightened her grip on Shawn’s hand. Carefully, Shawn extricated his numb fingers and put his arm around her shoulders.

Her hand went over her mouth when Hunter brought out the piece of two by four wrapped in barbed wire. When Kevin tucked the club into the turnbuckle and he launched Hunter towards it, Paige turned away and went to Hunter’s dressing room. She couldn’t stand to watch anymore.

Paige curled up in a corner of the sofa and prayed the match would be over soon.

In the ring…

Hunter cinched Kevin up for the Pedigree. He clasped Kevin’s arm and executed a perfect move. But, he was exhausted. He laboriously rolled Kevin over and lay on top of him. He couldn't even wipe the blood from his face. He listened as the crowd counted with Mick Foley the pinfall. The match was over.

“Paige, the match is over.” Shawn said from the doorway.

“Are they all right?” She asked hesitantly.

“They’re alive, but exhausted. There is a lot of blood. Wanna go see him?”

“Yes.” She answered simply.

Paige went to the curtain and looked through. The cage was up and Hunter was being helped from the arena by Ric Flair. Paige ran down to the ring and greeted her man.

“Paige?”

“Yes, sweetheart.” Paige answered relieved that he was still with her. She was terrified of the amount of blood, but steeled herself to look up into his dear face.

“I love you.” He murmured leaning on Flair heavily.

“I love you, too, my love.”
